Dec 2007

So so so so much has happened in the last year and a bit.....thought most of it is not for divulging on a website.
Firstly my first son was born which accounts for the lack of attention to my news page and site in general. Harrison was born back in March and weighted in at 6lb 3oz. He's inherited his mothers temperament and good looks, but has my appetite and bottom.
My website now has a new home. Which I can only figure you know as I haven't yet updated the Geocities pages. It is nice to be able to have people look at the pictures on the picture pages and not have the message 'sorry too much bandwidth used come back in an hour'. Well thank you to Geocities as the web server was free, it was very a good starting block but I now need more than 15MB of space. So 3 years on and Hindsight is due for a facelift (if I can find the time).

So much for me updating my news page at least once a month, at the moment I'm luck to update it once a year. There has been quite a lot going on this year:- I managed to travel round the North-west of Scotland and round Durness, I moved away from that hell hole that I was living in, I changed employer and all the rest which I staying sh-tum about. Not forgetting having my girls 6 out of 14.
It's been up to now a great year and it looks like it is going to get better. I'm enjoying my job and looking forward to buying a new house among other things. I think this the first year I've not been over to Germany, though I have travelled a lot round Britain  this year. I've had my new 4x4 for 12 weeks and have already covered over 13,000 miles.

Jan 2006

Happy New Year to one and all. I hope you have a wonderful year.
Christmas went very well this year (mean Xmas 05). No arguments, no getting overly drunk, but plenty of eating. I think all my drinking got done in Scotland the previous week. My neighbour decided to shout at his dog in the back garden around 2am Christmas morning just as I was about to play Santa. The outcome of this was it woke my eldest daughter up, who after deciding to go bed early Christmas eve, didn't go back off to sleep. Not until 4 in the morning was I able to slip her stocking in (even though she was still awake).

Dec 2005

As the end of the year approaches again it is time to reflect on the year gone by. Well how things have changed over the last year. Last year I had 3 daughters, now I have two. Last year I was down and broken hearted and now I'm very happy with my English Rose :-) I also moved next door to the policeman from hell, the noisy bastard.
The usually trip to Germany and Scotland went as plan and a cracking time it was too. Firstly 5 days in Lübeck with Rose. I wanted to take her to the Weihnachtsmarkt, the German Christmas market which are really atmospheric and done with style. The only problem was with flying with Ryan Air the weight allowance fortunately stopped a lot of the shopping. I at least this time got to visit the Brauberger, Lübeck own micro brewery and the bier was very good.
One day at home after getting back then it was off to Scotland. Speyside to be more precise. 1st night was spent at Craigellachie as it was fairly central to our plans, but mainly for the fact that the Craigellachie Hotel has a Bar that boasts of more than 700 whiskey and all itemised (PDF file). The pictures of the trip are in the photo section Pic 4

August 2005

Fantastic time had last weekend in Scotland, though I now think I was the only black in the village that weekend. After Simon managed to get through the M1 traffic, we set off and got in to Glasgow about 19:30. We'd gone there to see Brian Setzer at the Carling Academy which had been a lovely birthday present from Simon's wife. I had no idea he was still alive and the only thing I'd heard of his before was 'Run Away Boy' which the Stray Cats I think got to No.1 with. Well they played well and I had a good time. After the concert we made our way south down the A77 where at Kilmarnock we stopped off for food. I was sober and order donnermeat & chips, what came over me! Well I didn't get salmonella so it wasn't all bad. Once the food was done it was time to try find the A77 again. We found a lay-by south of the (World Famous) Turnberry and just north of Dipple (?!!). Then it was camp beds together and off to bed, and it was top to tail, rather have Simon hugging my feet in the middle of the night when he starts missing his wife, at least with my feet I could boot him awake The morning came with a fantastic view looking out over the sea to Isle of Arran and behind that Campbelltown and the Mull of Kintyre.
After coffee we made a move towards Bladnoch. It was a lovely drive there with it being Sunday morning and in the middle of no-where. We were outside the Bladnoch Distillery by 11:00. It was completely deserted, though after a good look round I found an opening times list for the distillery in a window which said it was open on Sundays from 12:00. So off to nearby Wigtown for breakfast which is a nice village..................Unfinished

July 2005

How thing have changed since I got back from Germany, I beat me bank at they own game and the CSA have finally taken their finger out of their backside and eventual done something. The other thing that has happened this month and has been the best thing to happen to me in quite awhile, is something I will keep between close friends. I am not paranoid as it's happened before, it's just there are certain people out there who would try to destroy it.
Not long now till I back up to Preswick airport and then a night of 425+ whiskeys before venturing to Glasgow. Which reminds me-must book a B+B.
My chess still needs to improve, I currently stand out of 20 games played, 2 wins and 18 losses. Not very convincing is it. Which reminds me-must enrol the help of 'Deep Blue' now it's redundant.

What a week. Another 1000+ mile trip to see my daughter, just to be told I can't see her even thought she was, what 10-20 meters away from me. And just to think just for an hour with my daughter their was 150 euros in my pocket for her, it's not about the money but it sure helps when living where she does.
Rant over, the flight was great, but more sleep at the airport would of been nice. The place was virtual empty after 1am, except two French (I'll be nice) fellas decided of all the places to sit in talk at the top of their voices all night was of course next to me. With Kirk getting married (the poor bugger) next week, Simon sorted a small sort of stag night out. Out which the highlight had to be getting one of the language students, Davy to do a routine for him. No need to explain much else about that, just have a look a the pictures (Pic3.html). Well with those pussies having to work the next day, they went bed about 2am, so Kirk, Jules and myself went to some little kniepe near Hux. Even Jules went after that but he did have to fly to Riga later that morning. So it was just Kirk and I putting the world to rights till 6am. I thought I might have an hours kip before catching the train to Neubukow. Thanks James you Muppet for leaving the key in the door, next time I'll knock. So Caught the 9:03 train with having no sleep and got to Neubukow. Started cycling to where my daughter lives. When I was passing through a village that is on the way I luckily saw someone I recognised, it was (I'm being very nice) the ex. At last I'll see my daughter..........NOoo. Well that was her answer anyway and I was not really in any position to make a scene. I arranged with her that I would call her Sunday to arrange something for Monday and when Monday arrived the phone developed a large off button that was getting caught a lot. Funny, cause when I phoned on Tuesday (man-o-man) it rang till it rang out. (Thanks for returning my call).
Sunday was nice the weather was good and after going to Hamburg went to the city beach. It is basically an island between the river and canal or something that in years gone by was the docks, (now called the 'Media Docks'). They have deposited a load of sand on it, loads of deck chairs (no towels required) and a beach bar. It is a really good idea and was very popular.
And before I forget Of course my first meal was at Freurstein's as per tradition. Anyway enough of all that, I all in all, with not seeing Zara, it kind of made the trip to me pointless though it was made worthwhile in the end by seeing all my Lübeck friends. Love to you all and thank you for everything. After returning to Preswick I made the rare trip to the office near Glasgow to put some faces to the names and voices I've heard so much about over the last years. It was I shock to meet such nice people, cause they are so damn rude and bossy over the phone. :-)
I was expecting Lesley to be the sister of Ann Robinson, but she is just a lovely pussy cat. (by way the I'm more suited to BMW's ;-) ) Was a shame not to of met Eileen, I think maybe I scare her a little.
The biggest troubles to holidays is that they always seem to end. Well I'll just have to wait for the August Whiskey tour

Well it's a great start to this the month of birthday hell, the 1st two weeks on-call. With one week down and again no call-out's yet.
Tickets are booked for Germany, just got to find out if there is any company parking near Preswick. Would be nice not to have to pay a fortune to the pink elephant car parking.

May 2005

Well May has be a pretty dull month, though a weekend in Towyn cheered the girls up. It was lovely whether and they had fun on the beach. Stayed in a nice caravan, might do a week there in the summer.
I have been so busy this month work wise, it seems like I haven't stopped, thought the first 2 weeks of a was on call. Being busy has be good, it has kept my mind from places it is best not to visit and it helps to get me to sleep at night.
After last months caper with taking Paris into hospital first thing on the Saturday morning before we were suppose to go to London, she managed to end up there again! This time after sticking a cotton bud a little to far into her ear. Kids ehh, she's young yet, she'll learn.
It's no joke but the post from the 1st April was posted pi**ed so please ignore the b*ll*cks, the points are still the same however......

Apr 2005

Well not a brilliant start to the weekend. I had planned to take my daughters to the British Museum while everyone was at Windsor Castle for Charles's marriage. But, alas the early start to London was thwarted by Paris waking up at 3am crying with stomach pains. They lasted all night and all the way to the hospital. Well on the bright side, with Paris back home and tucked up in bed catching up on her sleep, it left me to be inventive in ways to miss both the national and his wedding. Not saying what I did but I got through the day without any type of horse.

Pay day for March will be remember for a few years to come, the f...in CSA stole money out of my wages. Again I've been fuck and not received a thank you. I say stole the money because they were not entitled to it and if the right procedure were in place it would of never happened........it was just the CSA saying this is what we could do WHEN we get the right person. Well it has know been documented.
The worst part of it all to me is that I miss my daughter terribly, I have not seen her since she was 5 months old. She will be a year old in June and the chances of me being able to see her on her birthday are going to be slim, for f.in sake my daughters 1st birthday. I could call the mother of my first two many things, but one thing I could never call her is a bad mother. She has done pretty much what was best for the girls.
I can not believe I'm a bad father, I have been there for my offspring as much as I am able to. Maybe good maybe bad , but I have always been there. What more can I do ......Kidnap. Now that would be useful wouldn't it , me in prison. Tell me who would win. (Don't twist my mellow man - 10/07/05)
The kids are happy now I purchased a DVD player that plays DivX CD's. They seem too happy to want to watch films all day, but like that's going to happen.
My chess has to improve to beat the queen :-)

Feb 2005

Failed to see Zara my third daughter in Germany......TWICE. The first fail was my own fault for not telling anyone I coming. The second time one may accuse the other of being awkward and going out of ones way to make sure the other doesn't met even after travelling 1000miles to see ones daughter.
On a better note I can say Lübeck sports not one but two crackin' good Irish pubs now. As good as the pubs are, the live music provided is Shite.

Jan 2005

I was led to believe that doing a car boot sales was suppose to be fun. What fun is there in getting up at 6am on a cold wet Sunday morning. On top of that I'm suppose to drag 2 innocent daughters along with me, I am to expect them to like me after ripping them from their slumber. I think not!
I slept better knowing the tip stayed open till 4pm.

Dec 2004

(29th) The Christmas/New Year Snooker tournament went without a hitch. With 12 competitors paired off into 6 teams played each team once.

A. Nicky & Wack
B. Ian & Nick
C. Brian & Debbie
D. Bryan & Chris
E. Malc & Tim
F. Craig & Matt

It all started off just after 19:00 when the first 2 match started. I was partnered with Tim and our first game was against Nicky & Wack, which started with the highest scorer being foul shots. It was a fairly long game compared to the rest as I don't think any of us had played snooker in awhile. It ended up with Tim and I winning the game. Our next victims were Craig & Matt, a game we won only due to making less fouls. The third match was against the team I feared most at the time, Brian & Debbie. With Brian's unique style and his deadly potting I prayed to Debbie to save us. It was a one sided game against us until it was just down to the colour, when Debbie answered my prays. The game went down to the black ball and it was on Brian to make what looked to be a fairly easy (if not with a bit of a stretch) shot. By a strange turn off events he potted the black and the white followed through into the pocket giving us our third win from three games. The forth game was the game that shut me up. From coming into the tournament not expecting to win a game, to then win the first 3 games, started to make me think it might  be possible to win all 5. Unfortunately Bryan & Chris had other ideas about that. Some excellent snookers from both Bryan & Chris stopped us dead even with Tim's wonderful potting. We went ahead on the colours and due to some fouls we were 13 ahead with pink and black on the table. We shouldn't of been able to lose. Tim went for glory and tried a fine cut on the pink not realising our position, but unfortunately missed the pink. That let them back in and they went on and potted the pink. On the following shot I just went to pieces and total missed the black giving them the game. We were out classed. The final fifth match was against Ian & Nick. It promised to be a good match, but by this time the beer was starting to take over. So the fact that I had been drinking coffee all night due to me driving had nothing to do with it AT ALL. It was a game where I actually did some potting and Tim rattled them in. In the end we won with all the colours left due to the 3 snooker rule. That now left us with 4 wins out of 5 games and at that juncture there was only one other team able to equal us. Bryan & Chris, they had lost one game, but they had two games to go. One against Nicky & Wack and the second against Craig & Matt. Of course they won both matches leaving us with a tie. It was not really looking to good for Tim and myself as Bryan & Chris were the only ones to of beaten us in our 5 previous games. The game was the same as the first we played against them. only at the end I finished it by putting the game out of reach by potting the pink into the right hand middle pocket. The Tournament finished after the presentation of the Prizes and the Trophy were awarded at 01:30, what a night!

NB Though it did not change the results in as much as the winners and finishing positions I received an email from Brian clarifying the rules regarding an incident which with hindsight with wrongly judged at the time. For more information Click the Link
